Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-15 · Effective: 2026-05-15
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chrome Audio Capture browser extension (the "Extension"), the website at audio.prepphint.com (the "Site"), and the Pro subscription service (together, the "Service"), operated by PreppHint, a brand of Nixologic (the "Company", "we", "us", or "our"). "PreppHint" is the trading name; "Nixologic" is the registered legal entity that appears on payment receipts and card statements. By installing the Extension, creating an account, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
The Extension records the audio output of a Chrome browser tab and saves the resulting file locally to your device, and includes a built-in audio editor. The free tier allows MP3 recordings up to 60 minutes each, one recording at a time, with basic editing (trim, cut, copy). The Pro subscription removes the recording-time limit, enables recording up to six tabs simultaneously, adds mute-tab-while-recording and lossless WAV export, and unlocks the full audio editor (20+ effects such as EQ, compressor, reverb, noise reduction and 3D spatial). Audio you record is processed inside your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account, including keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information when signing up.
3. Subscriptions, billing & auto-renewal
The Pro subscription is offered as a monthly or annual recurring plan at the prices shown on the Pricing page at the time of purchase. Local taxes (where applicable) are shown at checkout.
Free trial: New Pro subscriptions include a 7-day free trial with full Pro access. You will not be charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid plan and the first charge is taken on the payment method on file at the then-current price. You may cancel at any time during the trial (see Section 4) to avoid being charged. Trial eligibility may be limited to first-time subscribers.
Payments are processed by Paddle.com Inc. ("Paddle"), which is the Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, taxes, fraud prevention, and chargebacks, and is the seller of record on your card statement. By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's Buyer Terms.
Auto-renewal: Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period using the payment method on file, at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. You will receive a receipt from Paddle after each successful charge.
4. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time using the management link in any Paddle receipt email, or by emailing us at hello@prepphint.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
5. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Record audio in violation of any law, including laws requiring the consent of one or more parties to a communication;
- Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights of any person;
- Record, capture, or download audio from paid or DRM-protected streaming services (including but not limited to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, or Tidal) without explicit authorisation from the rights holder;
- Distribute malware, scrape the Service, or attempt to bypass technical limits;
- Resell, sublicense, or share Pro access with others outside your household;
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or fraudulent purpose.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to record any audio you capture using the Extension.
7. Intellectual property
The Extension, Site, name, logos, and underlying software are owned by the Company and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Extension for your personal or internal business purposes for as long as these Terms are in effect. All recordings you create using the Extension belong to you.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will record every browser tab in every situation (e.g. DRM-protected content may not be captured).
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall PreppHint (Nixologic) be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your recordings, or your breach of these Terms.
11. Changes to the Service
We may add, modify, or remove features of the Service at any time. If a material change reduces Pro functionality you paid for, we will offer either a prorated refund or a comparable alternative.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email (to the address on your account) or by a banner on the Site at least seven days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates legal risk for us. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the Extension and (if you have a subscription) cancelling it. Sections 7–10 survive termination.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in India, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
